From Bret Curran

Buster,

Could you put this up as a post please? I didn't want it to get
buried as a "comment".

I read through this, and while it's more "forum-like", meaning more
"noise", it does contain some interesting and educational material.
I personally think the 380 corridor is worse-off in this plan than we
are -- of course, their situation truly is "temporary" as they will
have their own high school in 4-6 years. thanks, --Bret

I wonder if they will get to attend the "new" school on the 380 corridor. It will be closer, but as we are finding out, that doesnt mean anything.

Nahh..there'll be so much development out on the 380 Corridor that when time comes for the new high school there to open, they will have an excuse that there are too many kids to accomodate so either Providence or Savannah will be cut in half with half going to the new school and the other half bussed down to Guyer High with the Oakmont and Lantana crowd..hmm..maybe that's not so bad afterall!!!

You are assuming a new bond will pass. If this attendance zone change goes through as presented, then I and a lot of people will do their best to ensure the DISD does not have the money to ever do it again. After all, it is the citizens who pay the bills, it is our money, they are working for us. I find it intersting that they waited until after the bond election before they presented this new school zone plan.

The arrogance among the commenters reveals itself...don't want to be with the DHS population and you mock the "Oakmont and Lantana crowd." And talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face -- threatening to fight against a future bond election for the district if you don't get what you want? How does that help the kids of the district - overcrowd their schools?

I think the poster was trying to be funny..it didn't come across to me as mocking the "Oakmont and Lantana crowd" because of the statement saying that "maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing"..if you've ever driven by either of those neighborhoods, it's obvious that there's really no reason to be intentionally mean or mocking as they are very nice areas to live. I would hope folks would try to be as positive as possible because it boils down to the well being of all the kids in this district.
